Tip 8: Check your Testicles

Performing regular testicular self-exams can help men become familiar with what is normal for their bodies and make it easier to notice any changes that may need medical attention.

The best time to perform a self-exam is after a warm shower or bath, when the skin is relaxed. Using both hands, gently roll each testicle between your fingers and thumbs, feeling for any unusual lumps, swelling, hardness, or changes in size or shape. It's normal for one testicle to be slightly larger or hang lower than the other. While most changes are not cancer, any persistent lump, pain, heaviness, or unusual change should be evaluated by a healthcare provider. Regular self-awareness and prompt attention to changes can play an important role in maintaining men's health and detecting potential problems early.
